What we collect

You can browse the entire site without creating an account or providing your name, email or any other direct identifier. The information we handle falls into three groups:

• Usage analytics — aggregated, anonymous measurements such as which pages were read, approximate region, referrer and device/browser type, collected through Google Analytics.
• Cookies and similar technologies — described in full in our cookie policy, and controlled by your consent choices.
• Messages you send us — if you email us for a correction or enquiry, we receive whatever contact details and content you choose to include, and use them only to respond.

How we use it and our legal basis

We use usage analytics to understand which guides, comparisons and calculators are genuinely useful and to improve the site — never to build a personal profile or sell your data. Under UK and EU law we rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interests for the strictly necessary operation and security of the site. If you email us, we process your message to respond to you.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate traffic. Analytics and advertising cookies are non-essential: they are disabled by default and only load after you accept them. Third parties

We share limited data only with the service providers needed to run and measure the site, under appropriate safeguards:

• Google (Google Analytics) — measures aggregate, anonymous usage on our behalf.
• Retailers and affiliate partners — when you click through to a shop such as Amazon, that retailer sets its own cookies and processes your data under its own privacy policy, not ours.
• Our hosting and content-delivery provider — processes data necessary to deliver the site to you.

International transfers

Our audience is global and some providers (for example Google) process data in the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on recognised transfer safeguards such as the EU/UK–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

Analytics cookie data is retained by Google for a set membership period (we configure the shortest option that still gives useful insight). Your consent record is stored for six months. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle the request and any follow-up, then deleted.

Your rights and choices

• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you (for example, an email you sent) by contacting us.
• You can object to, or withdraw consent for, analytics and advertising cookies at any time via 'Cookie settings'.
• You can restrict targeted advertising using your browser settings and Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
• Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honour it as a valid opt-out of sale/sharing of personal data and targeted advertising.
• If you are in the UK, EEA or another region with a supervisory authority, you have the right to complain to that authority — though we would always rather you contact us first.

Children

The site is general shopping guidance and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our tools or obligations change. The 'last reviewed' date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
